Preparing for the Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) Redesign
Big changes are on the horizon for appraisals with the upcoming Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) redesign. This initiative aims to improve data quality and consistency, ultimately leading to a more efficient and reliable appraisal process. The new UAD 3.6 and dynamic Uniform Residential Appraisal Report (URAR) are slated for production in late 2026.
Are you ready for this shift? Here's a quick checklist to consider:
Internal Training: Have you started training your team on the new UAD standards and the redesigned URAR? Understanding the new data points and reporting structure is critical.
Procedure Changes: Have you considered potential adjustments to your internal procedures and workflows to accommodate the new appraisal reporting requirements?
Vendor Readiness: Have you confirmed that your appraisal management companies (AMCs) and software vendors are prepared for the redesign of UAD and are building to the new specifications?
This redesign will impact how appraisals are ordered, completed, and reviewed. Proactive preparation is key to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining loan quality.
